Monsters: Dark Continent Image

Recently a trailer was released for Monsters: Dark Continent, a sequel to Godzilla director Gareth Edwards’ 2010 indie flick Monsters. Did you know they were making a sequel to Monsters? Neither did I!

Godzilla is doing big things at the box office—so big that a sequel is already in the works—and Monsters of course played a huge part in scoring Edwards that gig. The movie grossed over $4 million worldwide on only a $500,000 budget. Godzilla cost much more at an estimated $160 million, but has already grossed $193 million worldwide in one weekend.

You can check out the first trailer for Monsters: Dark Continent below now.

Because Edwards was busy with Godzilla, obviously he wasn’t available for the Monsters sequel. That job went to Tom Green (no, not that one).

It may look like a military movie at first, but I assure you it is not.
