The cast of Star Wars: Episode VII is already impressive. The fact that they have addedLupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie shows just how diverse the film will be. But it doesn’t look like J.J. Abrams is done with the casting phase, as is usually the case with all films that are this early in the production stages.
According to reports, Simon Pegg was spotted on set in Abu Dhabi. Because of this, some think he might have a secret role in the film, albeit a very small one. But considering that this is a rumor, we should take this report with a grain of salt. Hit the jump to read more about the story.
Pegg has had a long history working with Abrams. The two started working with each other on Mission: Impossible III, and then proceeded to work together on Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness. But that isn’t the most interesting part of the story. It’s the fact that Pegg wasn’t interested in starring in the highly anticipated sequel.
Here’s what the actor had to say:
“I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest. I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting.”
Seeing the kind of cast that he as assembled, it’d be safe to say that whatever cameos we may see won’t add to the story or have much significance.
We’ll just have to see if the rumors are true when Star Wars: Episode VII opens in theaters on December 18, 2015.
