James Cameron's Deepsea Challenge 3D

Back in 2012 we found out about Deepsea Challenge 3D, a documentary being made about director James Cameron‘s expedition to the deepest point on the planet, dubbed Challenger Deep, which is part of the Mariana Trench.

Challenger Deep exists seven miles under the ocean’s surface, over a mile deeper than the height of Mt. Everest. Only two other human beings have been there, and they barely had any time to do any exploring while there. The movie follows Cameron’s quest to not only get there, but explore and document the area in high-definition and 3D.

A trailer for the documentary has now been released, and can be seen below along with a video that looks at just how deep Cameron traveled.

Deepsea Challenge 3D will be released on August 8th, and more information can be found at the official site.
