Anyone who has spent some time watching videos on YouTube has more than likely come across one or two unboxing videos. For those who aren’t familiar, the videos basically just show someone opening up a package containing some exciting new product, such as the next big video game console or Apple product, for example, so that others can see how the product looks before they get their own hands on one.
Taking this basic idea, YouTube channel NonRandomNonSense has created a brilliant—albeit very dark—parody of the everyday unboxing video. In their version, it’s Morgan Freeman doing the unboxing as his character in the movie Se7en.
If you’ve seen the movie, you have a pretty good idea of where this is going and can watch the video below…and if you’ve not seen the movie, stop reading this now and go watch it.
While the video itself is genius, huge respect has to go to everyone who was involved in recreating this iconic scene. They really went all out for the video, and put a lot of effort into the details. Be sure to watch all the way to the end for the added bonuses of a Shawshank Redemption reference and a Nine Inch Nails song recreation to fit the video.
The fact that this video only has 275,000 views on YouTube over a month after first being shared is astonishing.
