So in the last few hours the first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron leaked. It was originally supposed to debut during next week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but Marvel and Disney have responded to the leak in the best way possible. No they didn’t plug the leak or erase the mirrored copies of the trailers from YouTube or DailyMotion. Instead, they posted the actual official trailer, in HD, plus they released the first poster. And they also responded to the leak in a very joking manner.
Hit the jump to check out the first trailer and poster for Avengers: Age of Ultron, plus Marvel’s Twitter response.
It’s quite surprising that Marvel would make such a move, considering it would be the one thing to draw in viewers for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., whose ratings are declining at a rapid pace. So I’m interested in what the show’s contingency plan is. That being said, let’s get back the trailer.
We already know that the film would center on Tony Stark trying reviving an old peace keeping program. Things don’t go as planned, and as a result Ultron is created. He sees the flaws in humanity, and the only way to correct those flaws is to purge it. Now there are a lot of interesting questions that come to mind when looking at the ominous trailer like: What caused Thor to clench Tony Stark’s throat? What happened to Bruce Banner that has him quivering in fear? What’s with the ballerinas? How come Andy Serkis is not wearing a mo-cap suit? Okay that last question is more of a joke, but still, who is he playing, and will we see more of him?
The poster itself is reminiscent of The Avengers poster, but has more of an Ultron feel. Which is appropriate considering he is the titular villain.
As to how Marvel responded, I think it all comes down to their tweet.
