Earlier this month, we learned that Game Of Thrones was set to become the first television series shown in IMAX, and thanks to fan demand, the release has been moved to Thursday, January 29, 2015 to allow for an expanded roll-out of screens upwards of 200 IMAX theaters from the originally planned 150 theaters.
Now, IMAX has released a teaser for the upcoming event that gives a tiny glimpse of what’s to come in Season 5. Watch it here below.
The theatrical screenings, which will run through February 5, 2015, will feature two episodes from Season 4 of the hit HBO series, as well as a sneak peek at Season 5 created exclusively for IMAX.
The two Season 4 episodes, which will be digitally remastered for the IMAX presentation, being shown are Episode 9, “The Watchers on the Wall,” and the Season 4 finale, Episode 10, “The Children.”
Episode nine, “The Watchers on the Wall,” takes place entirely at The Wall with the Night’s Watch hopelessly outnumbered as they attempt to defend Castle Black from the Wildings and features one the fiercest and most intense battle scenes ever filmed for television.
Episode 10, the season finale entitled “The Children,” features Dany coming to grips with the realities of ruling a kingdom, Bran learning the startling reality of his destiny and Tyrion facing the truth of his unfortunate situation. Game of Thrones is an epic series whose storylines of treachery and nobility, family and honor, ambition and love, and death and survival, have captured the imagination of fans globally and made it one of the most popular shows on television.
Tickets are on sale at imax.com/gameofthrones and the first 300 IMAX ticket holders for the 10pm Thursday night opening show time at participating IMAX theaters will receive a commemorative Game of Thrones poster from illustrator Robert Ball, who designed interpretive images of the most iconic deaths in each episode.
