Last month, we got our first full trailer for Season 5 of AMC’s The Walking Dead as well as a shorter trailer to go with last year’s teaser touting the show’s return to AMC this Winter.
Now, the network has released a video of the first 2 minutes of the mid-season premiere, Episode 5.9 “What Happened and What’s Going On.”
Watch the video here below!
The Walking Dead is back at AMC on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 9/8c, and sees the returns of Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Michael Cudlitz, and more.
After the tragic events of the mid-season finale — as well as losing the possibility of a cure in Washington, DC — Rick Grimes’ band of survivors find themselves on the road, surviving day to day and trying to hold on to their shredded humanity and dwindling hope.
Stripped of security and without a direction for the future, some of the group near their breaking point, some find themselves hardened and cold and some just try to grasp on to what little they have left.
Though they are still breathing, the line between Rick’s group and the dead is starting to blur.
Could there be anything at this point that brings them back to life?
Last month, news broke that Ross Marquand would be joining the cast for the second half of the fifth season as a series regular who’s likely to be part of the already Season 6.
AMC is also currently working on a spin-off for the show, rumored to be called Fear The Walking Dead (working title is Cobalt). Unlike The Walking Dead, the new show won’t be set in Atlanta, GA, but rather in Los Angeles, CA. Cliff Curtis (Trauma) is the male lead, a divorced teacher who tries hard to be good to everyone in his life, while Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm) are the children of female lead Nancy Tomkins, played by Kim Dickens. Walking Dead comics creator Robert Kirkman and current The Walking Dead TV showrunner Dave Erickson are writing the series with Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert on as executive producers. There’s reportedly no characters coming over from the main show, as the spin-off is supposed to be set in the days leading up to the zombie apocalypse, showing a more global perspective on the crisis.
Along with the February 8, 2015 mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead comes the return of its ancillary show, the Chris Hardwick-hosted Talking Dead live at a special time, 11:15/10:15c, with guests Greg Nicotero, Ron Perlman, and a surprise cast member from The Walking Dead.
