So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of March 18, 2015. I hope you’re all not too hungover from St. Patrick’s Day festivities because the world of comics does not stop just because you tied one on last night. So get yourself some hair of the dog, and get to the store where you can look forward to picking up so many books with rabbit samurai, mad scientists, and athletes. So get a move on because the perfect cure for a rough night is The GoD List!

Usagi Yojimbo Saga, Vol. 2 (Dark Horse Comics – $24.99) Usagi Yojimbo is a series I always like to beat the drum for because it’s such an easy book to like and I worry that it is a book too many people overlook. I’ve gone on length before about writer/artist Stan Sakai’s masterful work that brings the anthropomorphic characters to life while perfectly capturing the look and feel of the time period in which this book is set. What you get in this new collection is almost 700 pages of story, including the Eisner Award winning “˜Grasscutter’ arc. But more than that, you get a fantastic truly all ages series that is great for all readers. There’s just no excuse not to buy this book.

The Manhattan Projects: Sun Beyond the Stars #1 (Image Comics – $3.50) Yay! The Manhattan Projects is back with their second volume, subtitled The Sun Beyond the Stars. If you’ve never read The Manhattan Projects before, well, I’ll be honest, this may not be the best place to start. Don’t get me wrong, I love Jonathan Hickman’s insane take on an alternate history of the scientific minds of the post-WW II era, but this is a Hickman book, which means there is a lot going on, and I have to imagine you’ll need info from the first volume to understand what’s going on. Why are there two guys who look like Albert Einstein? Why is Yuri Gagarin lost in space looking for a dog? What is the AI version of Franklin Roosevelt planning? There’s a lot to catch up on, but it’s totally worth it, which is why I highly recommend reading the first 25 issues of The Manhattan Projects and then jumping into this one. It’s money well spent.

Strange Sports Stories (Vertigo Comics – $4.99) There are many things I love in this world, and certainly among them are comics and sports. And I love it when the two come together, which is what we get in Strange Sports Stories. Vertigo has assembled another line up of excellent talent to tell a variety of sports related stories. Vertigo always does a good job with their anthology series, and I expect this one to be another fun collection of tales for those of us who dig their comics and their sports.

Star Trek Planet Of The Apes #4 (IDW Publishing – $3.99) Shocker, I picked the new Star Trek Planet Of The Apes issue! I’m a big fan of Star Trek, especially the original series, so I’ve been following this miniseries from the start and I just love the premise! Captain Kirk and the Enterprise follow a Klingon ship through an interdimensional portal to another Earth where apes rule. Bring on the Apes! Here, we get Klingons on horseback! This is the penultimate issue is this 5-issue miniseries, so make sure you keep up, because the end is near. Check out a preview of the issue here below.

An uneasy alliance has been forged between Captain Kirk and Colonel Taylor! But will it be enough to prevent Commander Kor and his Klingons from toppling the regime of Doctor Zaius?
