Star Trek Planet of the Apes #3 continues the crossover that we’ve all wanted to see for so long! Kirk working with Taylor! The Klingons and General Marius! And why isn’t someone enforcing the Prime Directive?
Writers David and Scott Tipton bring us another great chapter in this mini-series. Taylor has broken free of the crew of the USS Enterprise and is loose on the ship causing havok. Kirk and crew are trying to catch him, but he’s pretty good at not only evading them, but getting the supplies and equipment that he needs. The Tiptons do a fantastic job this issue of keeping the action flowing, while moving the story forward. This third issue is filled with some great characterization, pedal to the medal action, and a few intriguing mysteries thrown in for good measure. There is a LOT going on in this installment, but at no point is it ever confusing or hard to follow, just entertaining.
Rachael Stott‘s art is unbelievable! From what I can determine, this is her first work in comics, and if this is just the beginning, she’s in for a nice, long career in this field, that I, for one, am really looking forward to following. She’s got a great ability to draw likenesses without making them look like she’s using publicity stills, which is always a hazard when you’re working on licensed comics. Add to that her great ability to lay out a page and tell a story, and you’ve got a winner!
If you haven’t been reading this series, you’re really missing out. Pick up the previous issues (#1 & #2) and grab this one, as you’re really going to have fun with them!
