Last week on Supernatural 10.15 “The Things They Carried”, Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) investigated a parasite that caused its victim to be so thirsty, gallons and gallons of water weren’t enough, so it had to resort to blood. Cole (I-made-it-my-life’s-mission-to-kill-Dean-Winchester) returned to help the boys since the infected was a pal.

The brothers are just trying to think job to job…well Dean is anyway. He’s trying to find a way to live with the Mark of Cain, to not think about what it means for his future. It’s Sam’s turn to worry and research, and no matter how much Dean tells him to forget about it, Sam can’t stop. He never could. If it was Sam with the mark, Dean and all of us know, he’d be fighting the same fight.

Supernatural 10.16 “Paint It Black” review: A man goes to confession then slices his own heart. Our boys are on the case when a few more kill themselves in the exact same way. Dean goes to confession for the first time ever. He starts it as a joke, but it gets serious fast. I love when Dean gets vulnerable. You can tell he’s scared, that the more he tries to put the mark out of his mind, the more it burns in his brain.

Serious Dean: “I believe there is a god, but I am not sure he believes in us.”

Not serious Dean: “Tell me you didn’t think that nun was hot. I think she had a little thing for me too.”
Sam: “Dean. She’s married to Jesus.”

This real brotherly camaraderie is why we’ve tuned in for 10+ years.

Crowley’s (Mark Sheppard) mommy is so fun! Like Mommy Dearest with witchy powers. The other storyline of the episode is Rowena’s (Ruth Connell) manipulation of hell and its king — her darling boy. “I gave you life.” She craves her powers back, plus a little revenge on the coven that rejected her. Crowley finally gives in and delivers the head witch like a bouquet of reluctant flowers.

Another delightful episode.

Supernatural 10×16 Promo “Paint It Black”

Supernatural 10×16 “Paint It Black” – Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a string of suicides committed by people with little in common other than the identical, grisly method of death – slow, self-administered disembowlment. All of the victims were members of a Catholic church and had recently given confession, leading the brothers to suspect the priest (guest star Stephen Daniel Curtis) is somehow involved. Meanwhile, when Crowley (Mark Sheppard) captures Olivette (guest star Teryl Rothery), the leader of the Grand Coven, Rowena (guest star Ruth Connell) pleads her case to be allowed to practice magic freely again. John Showalter directed this episode written by Brad Buckner & Eugenie Ross-Leming (#1016). Original airdate 3/25/2015
