We got confirmation yesterday that the new Walking Dead spinoff series would be titled Fear the Walking Dead.
Tonight, during the Season 5 finale of The Walking Dead, the first trailer for Fear the Walking Dead was shown.
Watch the 15-second video here below.
No characters revealed in this tiny tease, but it does give us a start for how the series, which had been codenamed Cobalt, will begin. The prequel series will be set in Los Angeles – as opposed to Georgia where The Walking Dead has been located since its premiere – and takes place in the weeks prior to the zombie outbreak. News of the walkers is still being treated as an urban legend and the Centers for Disease Control is trying to dissuade the public from going into high panic mode. We all know how that works out.
In Fear, which AMC has already given a 2-season order to, Cliff Curtis (Trauma) stars as the male lead, a divorced teacher who tries hard to be good to everyone in his life, with Sons Of Anarchy‘s Kim Dickens as the female lead. Frank Dillane (the young Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm) play her children. Kirkman and current Walking Dead showrunner Dave Erickson are writing the new series, with Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert on board as executive producers.
The upcoming series, which is also rumored to have a different visual style than its predecessor, is still in production, so there’s no premiere date set, but this new promo reveals that it’s coming Summer 2015!
