Fans watching ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are familiar with the shaky relationship shared between ex-spouses Bobbi Morse, aka Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood). The two always seem to have an ulterior motive or are just hiding secrets from each other.
Now a new report says that another newly announced Marvel TV spinoff could expand on that. Hit the jump for more.
Plot details are under wraps as of now, but THR reports that Palicki and Blood will headline the new spinoff, but it is not the one that will be written by Oscar-winning writer John Ridley (12 Years A Slave, American Crime). According to their report, the final two episodes will act as a lead in to their own series — almost mirroring how the Flash was introduced by putting him in an episode of Arrow.
S.H.I.E.L.D. EP Jeffrey Bell (Angel, The X-Files) and series writer Paul Zbyszewski (Lost) are the creative minds behind this new spinoff.
The show’s improved ratings almost guarantee that ABC will give the green light for a third season. However, Agent Carter‘s future remains unclear.
In a separate report, The Wrap has more information regarding the Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter characters, and what the two of them are up to in this new spinoff series:
The characters are ex spouses and have been involved in a storyline in which they share a secret plan involving Nick Fury’s toolbox, not yet revealed to the audience or other characters on the current season.
John Ridley’s spinoff is said to be a reinvention of an already existing superhero within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That show is Ridley’s second (after American Crime) under an overall deal he has with the network. His spinoff when added to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, and this separate spinoff starring Palicki and Blood, brings the grand total of Marvel shows on or coming to ABC to four.
No word yet on when this spinoff is scheduled to premiere.

This is a little confusing because in the show Hunter is not involved in the plot to get Fury’s toolbox, just Bobbi and Mac.
