When we last left Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), his fellow Defenders believed he was buried under a pile of rubble. Little did they know that he was pulled out and being cared for. The last image of his lying on a bed being tended to by a nun was an image pulled straight from the comics. It also hinted at what to expect from Daredevil season 3.
While it has been a long wait, the time as come, and just a few weeks before its season 3 debut, Netflix has released a new trailer for Daredevil. And while the character seems fine, his greatest enemy the Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) will declare war on him. Check it out below.
The trailer reveals that the Kingpin has made a deal with the NYPD. And with an early release, he is now getting revenge on those who wronged him, including declaring war on the person who put him into prison, Daredevil. So how far will Daredevil be pushed to bring peace and justice to the New York? Well, based on the trailer, he will be pushed pretty far, as we see a beaten and battered Matt Murdock, donning the black suit once more, fighting against not only local authorities but also copy cat Daredevils.
I can’t say that I have been the biggest fans of these Marvel shows. Mostly because they run out of gas mid-season. That being said, Daredevil season 3 looks good. But can it sustain that engagement throughout the entire season? We will just have to wait and see.
We know that the third season would be the darkest. A revitalized Murdock is struggling emotionally and spiritually. Everything that Matt has gone through has led up to this moment. Hopefully, Murdock doesn’t come out more broken than he already is.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world, or embracing his destiny as a hero.
In addition to Cox and D’Onofrio’s return, Elden Henson is back as Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll reprises her role as Karen Page.
All episodes of Daredevil season 3 debuts on Netflix on October 19, 2018.
