Last week’sSupernatural was one of my favorites of the season. “Angel Heart” brought us back to Claire Novak (Kathryn Love Newton), daughter of Jimmy Novak, Castiel’s (Misha Collins) vessel. She was looking for her mother, gone for years, searching for a Jimmy that lived in heaven by choice. Her mother was being captive by an ancient order of fallen angels… well angel, who sucked souls out of people slowly. It left them with heavenly dreams. What was great about that episode was the dynamic between this belligerent teenage girl, who really craved love, and each of the men. Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Claire were really funny, having fun and trading insults. He taught her some hunter stuff, as did Sam (Jared Padalecki). And as much as Castiel said he merely felt responsible for her, I think he really cares for her as a father figure.
Supernatural 10.21 “Dark Dynasty” review: The first few minutes were completely disgusting. Throat slit, eyeballs scooped out – they think that is the case of the day. What it is, is the Styne family, still looking for The Book Of The Damned.
Crowley (Mark Sheppard) is upset then obsessed with getting some Rowena (Ruth Connell) leverage.
Sam is growling at Rowena to hurry up and break the code. She is in chains, and now it’s even more confusing. He puts together an unlikely team: “literal” Castiel, snarky Rowena, and ever loyal Charlie (Felicia Day).
Charlie to Sam: “But why are we meeting here? I could have come to the Death Star.”
Charlie finds out that Sam never burned the book, Dean has no idea, and then that he’s working with another redhead. Nobody thinks this is a good idea. These Winchesters will never learn.
Charlie (about Rowena): “With her criticizing, breathing down my neck, trying to sign me up for Teen Witch, oh, oh… moaning how the one good year for music was 1723, I am going crazy. She is evil!”
Castiel: “She is a wicked witch so by definition…”
Charlie and Castiel really should be their own show. Ok – Rowena too.
Dean has to kill and torture, but this Styne family does not play around. They changed their name (not gonna share til next week). What I will tell you is that one of them cut his own arm off to escape. It was only really the wrist, hand, and piece of forearm, so no biggie, right?
Oh my god… Charlie… No! I do not accept this!
This show always gets me.
Supernatural airs Wednesday nights at 9pm ET on The CW.
