FX and Comflix Studios have just released an animated video telling the tale of an ancient book that may hold the key in the battle ahead between the humans and the vampires of The Strain. We know that Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley), Thomas Eichorst (Richard Sammel), and The Master (Robin Atkin Downes, Robert Maillet) have a long history together, and that Setrakian first learned of the Strigoi from his grandmother, so they are very old. But this story proves they are even older than that.
Watch the story unfold in the animated video below.
The “Occido Lumen” were enscripted tablets first dicovered in 1508. A fleeting pic of The Master is shown in the video. Although none could read them, blood and death followed as they were passed from one wealthy and/or curious hand to the next. They even were in the hands of Queen Elizabeth I. Eventually, a rabbi translated them and then went insane. It hasn’t been seen since 1825, now just a myth.
I fully expect Setrakian to now tell the story of the “Occido Lumen” sometime in season 2.
It ends…
The search for the book continues as its secrets may be critical to survival against the Strigoi…
My question is… who is searching?
The Strain infects us on Sunday, July 12th at 10pm ET on FX.
