‘Married With Children’ Spinoff Confirmed

Married With Children

We’ve heard rumblings in the past of a possible spinoff to the hit ’80s and ’90s sitcom Married With Children—because that’s one of the popular TV trends right now—revolving around Bud Bundy (played by David Faustino on the original show) and his current life.

While attending the premiere of co-star Christina Applegate‘s (who played Kelly Bundy) new movie, the Vacation reboot/sequel, Faustino confirmed the possibility of a Married With Children spinoff.

You can see what he had to say below.

When asked about E! Online, Faustino said:

“Sony has it. They’re excited about it. They’re working out some legal issues that we hope they work out.”

What those legal issues are exactly is unknown, though because the show aired on Fox there’s a good chance that it probably has something to do with that.

It also sounds like the rest of the main cast, Ed O’Neill (who played Al), Katey Sagal (who played Peggy), and Applegate are all willing to show up on the spinoff from time to time:

“The whole cast, including Christina, is down to do little bits in it. The idea would be a pilot for a spinoff. That’s all I can say right now. It involves me and few other people.”

Whether this also includes Marcy (Amanda Bearse), Jefferson (Ted McGinley), and other well-known supporting cast is not yet known, but we can hope they’ll all be showing up.

Applegate also spoke about the potential spinoff and what she thinks Kelly Bundy would be up to these days:

“All of us have said we would all be there for [Faustino].”

“Kelly Bundy probably has like 10 kids. I’m sure of it.”

Married With Children ran from 1987 to 1997, eleven seasons in total, and followed the bottom of the barrel Bundy family: Al, the father and miserable woman’s shoe salesman lifer; Peggy, the lazy do-nothing mother who spends as much of Al’s money as possible; Kelly, the far from intelligent but highly promiscuous daughter; and Bud, the constantly fighting for the attention of the opposite sex yet surprisingly intelligent youngest member of the family.

What do you think the Bundy family would be up to these days?
