Warning: Spoilers for Fear the Walking Dead Episode 1.1.
Now that we’ve seen the series premiere of AMC’s new drama Fear the Walking Dead, which aired on Sunday night, August 23, 2015, it’s time to take a look at the Most Talked About Scene from the episode, which involves Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), Nick Clark (Frank Dillane), and Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) going to the tunnel to search for Nick’s friend Calvin.
Watch the scene here in the video below, along with bonus content from the episode.
Nick had gone to Calvin for help after his fright at the drug den church and his subsequent flight from the hospital, but it turns out old Cal wasn’t such a great friend after all. The pals got physical after Cal pulled a gun, and Nick ended up shooting his old friend (who, unbeknownst to Madison and Travis, was also Nick’s drug supplier). While Cal appeared to be dead when Nick fled the scene, we know this is The Walking Dead universe, so nothing dead stays quite dead. Nick calls Madison and Travis for help, and once the trio makes it back to the tunnel, they find a very different Calvin shuffling around.
The second “bonus content” video is one of the viral videos that Madison’s daughter Alicia was watching at school with her friends just before the half-day announcement. The video shows what caused the highway traffic jam. A presumed dead man came to life and attached the first responders, setting of a police standoff, which resulted in the police having to gun the man down. But guess what? He doesn’t stay down! It’s not until one of them gets a shot off to the man’s head that he falls for good. We all know what it is, but the characters certainly don’t… yet.

Episode 1.2, “So Close, Yet So Far,” airs on AMC on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 9/8c.
