Back in December of last year, we saw a cool CG remake of the HBO horror anthology series Tales from the Crypt‘s opening that made us wish that the show would come back from the grave it currently resides in. There was a time a few years back now when a revival of the show was being pitched to networks, but nothing ever came of it sadly. We miss you, Cryptkeeper.
Now another popular ’90s horror TV show’s intro is getting a makeover that might just make you wish it too would be reborn. An extended re-imagining of Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark intro takes some of the familiar elements of the original intro and show and adds some new stuff.
You can check out the original intro and this new re-imagined intro in the videos below.
Are You Afraid of the Dark ran from 1990 to 2000 on YTV in Canada, and was picked up by Nickelodeon who started airing it in the States in 1992. It was part of Nick’s Saturday Night Nick (SNICK) from ’92 to ’96, with a short revival in 1999.
Numerous actors made appearances on the show, many of which before they were famous, including Mia Kirshner, Bobcat Goldthwait, Charles S. Dutton, Ryan Gosling, Neve Campbell, Melissa Joan Hart, Hayden Christensen, Tara Lipinski, Jay Baruchel, Jewel Staite, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Gilbert Gottfried, Tatyana Ali, Colin Ferguson, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Gregory Smith, and Emily VanCamp.
