Last week saw the release of the first TV spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and with it came new footage to be excited about.
Now, Lucasfilm has released a new, extended TV spot that has even more new material!
Check out the new 60-second extended TV spot here below.
The new spot, which aired last night on television exclusively during ABC’s TGIT block of programming, is similar to what we saw in the Japanese trailer, but with all-new scenes throughout, including one with Harrison Ford’s Han Solo handing a weapon to Daisy Ridley’s Rey. “You might need this,” he tells the young girl.
If you don’t know that ABC’s TGIT is, it’s a block of prime time programming on Thursday nights that contains the TV shows Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away With Murder, all produced by Shonda Rhimes, who introduced the new Star Wars footage. You can watch her introductions, which she posted to her Twitter account, here below as well. In them, the big-name showrunner talks about Han Solo as a mentor who doesn’t think he knows everything, and Rey as a female warrior.
Lucasfilm and visionary director J.J. Abrams join forces to take you back again to a galaxy far, far away as Star Wars returns to the big screen with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Max von Sydow, and returning alum Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, and Kenny Baker. Directed by J.J. Abrams, who co-wrote the script with Lawrence Kasdan, the seventh installment of the Star Wars saga opens in theaters on December 16 in France, in the U.K. on December 17, and in the U.S. on December 18, 2015.
