George Lucas Star Wars

After Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, Star Wars creator George Lucas thought that the studio would be using some of his drafts and stories to develop a brand new trilogy. However, a new memoir by Disney CEO Bob Iger tells us otherwise. Despite the fact that Lucas stayed on as a creative consultant, Disney went in an entirely different direction with the Star Wars franchise and moved forward with Star Wars: The Force Awakens from writer and director J.J. Abrams and co-writers Michael Arndt and Lawrence Kasdan.

Now excerpts from said memoir reveal how unhappy Lucas was with that decision. More on this below.

The Room's Tommy Wiseau Meets Mark Hamill In The Force Awakens

We’re nearing a year and a half now since Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released. The first spinoff movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has since come and gone, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi is on the way later this year.

But that doesn’t mean the internet is going to stop coming up with little gems to entertain us. A meme has made its way around the ‘net in which the man, the myth, the legend himself, Tommy Wiseau, drops his “Oh, hai Mark” line from his infamous anti-classic The Room on Mark Hamill in The Force Awakens.

Now someone has taken that meme a step further, by taking the clip of Wiseau out of The Room and superimposing him into the final scene of The Force Awakens. The result is, of course, perfect. You can check out the video below.

Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs

As much as Star Wars: The Force Awakens could have had A-listers to lead the film, director J.J. Abrams chose a couple of unknowns. However, some of those bigger names managed to get in a few cameos (such as James Bond himself, Daniel Craig), while others never got their chance to be a part of a galaxy far far away. We recently learned that Eddie Redmayne tested for Kylo Ren, a role that eventually went to Adam Driver. However, the Oscar-winning actor wasn’t the only big name who was up for a role in the 2015 Star Wars sequel.

While helping promote his new film Assassin’s Creed, Michael Fassbender said he was considered for a role in The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was one of my favorite movies of 2015, and is a film I’ve written a lot about here — bottom line, I love it! Does it have its flaws? Sure, but nothing that I feel hampers the enjoyment of watching it. While there are those who feel it’s a retread of the original trilogy, I believe that it’s a worthy addition to the Star Wars universe.

The film was released in Blu-ray back in April and included a host of bonus features that delved into the making of the sequel. But, sadly, it didn’t include feature-length audio commentary, which is an extra I love on home video releases, especially for an extravaganza like this. Now, Disney has released The Force Awakens as a 3D Blu-ray Collector’s Edition that does include commentary from J.J. Abrams, which to me makes this set worth getting. It also includes the original bonus features, along with several all-new featurettes. So, if you don’t already own this, definitely grab this collector’s edition.
