Happy Sunday everyone! It’s time to laugh, feel warm, and oh-so-squishy inside from the little life lessons these detectives impart upon us every week.

“Hitchcock just ate his own fish.” I wish I worked there. I would fit right in as a live laugh track.

Spoilers and happiness ahead!

Peralta and Santiago (Andy Samberg and Melissa Fumero) want to work the “taxi” (a new drug) case together, and promise their “couple-ness” will not get in the way. I think they must have invented the “opposites attract” saying, because I have not seen such polar opposites since Dave and Maddie on Moonlighting. Am I showing my age?

Some Jamy gems:

Jake to Santiago: “You’re 2 minutes late. I called all the emergency rooms.”

Holt to Santiago: “Is this who you want to be with?”

Amy: “You’re Orangina!”
Jake: “Ugh! Don’t say that!”

Amy wants Jake to buy a new grown-up mattress. They go mattress shopping and diving, and it looks like so much fun! When I bought a mattress, I wasn’t allowed to jump from bed to bed in my stockinged feet.

The case does get affected by their relationship, but Holt saves the day via analogy.

Charles, Gina, and Holt (Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti and Andre Braugher) have their own little storyline about bad parking and cupcakes. Charles is driving and sings the theme to Charles in Charge. Not the point and I know, and I’m showing my age again.

Anyway, he scratches Holt’s car, which is parked badly, and Holt can’t see that it was his own fault. Gina to the rescue! All Boyle wants to do is “Burn my face off with acid and disappear forever.” Gina tries to get him to grow a pair. But nobody in the world can make the words “rasberry sherbert” sound so menacing and funny simultaneously, like Andre Braugher. You must watch to see how Gina showed Holt the error of his ways. It was very sweet to see her take Boyle’s side.

The queen was just fantastic this episode! “I was the brilliant Gina Linetti in both scenarios.” You sure were, honey.

Rosa and Terry (Stephanie Beatriz and Terry Crews) disagreed on Rosa’s mentoring tactics. She insults her “little brother” and he likes it, but when the boy gets in trouble with the law, Terry has to all but restrain her.

“Terry proved a wrong point!” He brought her ballet teacher to show her that nurturing is better than being hard on someone. Her mentor was mean and insulting. We did get to see Rosa do some ballet though.

I love the analogies, the full explanations afterwards, and the well-timed agreement in between the explanations. Oh, you’ll see.

Everybody got equal billing this episode which I always love. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a true ensemble show, with every member hilarious in their own quirky way.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs Sunday nights at 8:30pm ET on FOX.
