The first teaser trailer for season six of HBO’s Game of Thrones has been released, and it is a quickfire reminder of the pain this show has caused many of us over the years, ending of course with the most recent character loss (maybe). Much like that promo art (not that it needs to be said, but you should probably avoid clicking that or watching this teaser if you’re not yet caught up with the show) we saw recently, the new teaser is sure to toy with your emotions about where the new season is heading.
You can check out the first teaser trailer for Game of Thrones season six below.
In case you’re wondering, the voice at the beginning of this teaser is the great Max von Sydow, who joined the cast of the show back in August. Sydow is the two time Academy Award nominated star of movies such as The Exorcist, Minority Report, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, and Pelle the Conqueror. He’s also a part of the cast of the soon to be released Star Wars: The Force Awakens, in which he plays Lor San Tekka. Fellow gamer geeks will recognize his voice as well; he played Esbern in Fallout 4 developer Bethesda Game Studios’ The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Fittingly enough, the Skyrim in-game map got its ownGame of Thrones style opening last year in April…one year prior to the premiere of the new season of Thrones this upcoming April.
The trailer also features the return of Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright), whose words act as both a warning and also one last jab to the hopes of anxious fans desperately wanting to know what’s going to happen in the new season.
