A trailer has been released for The Wave (or Bølgen), a Norwegian disaster flick directed by Roar Uthaug, whose previous credits include Cold Prey (Fritt vilt) and Escape (Flukt). Back in November Uthaug was hired for a much higher profile project, the planned reboot of the Tomb Raider movie franchise.
The movie is set in small coastal village where a rockslide 100 years ago caused a devastating tsunami. The village exists today with the very real possibility of the same disaster happening again at any time, and when it does, the people who live there have only 10 horrifyingly short minutes to get themselves and their families somewhere safe.
You can check out the trailer for The Wave, read a synopsis for the movie, and also see the official poster below.
The experienced geologist Kristian Eikfjord has accepted a job offer out of town. He is getting ready to move from the city of Geiranger with his family when he and his colleagues measure small geological changes in the underground. Kristian gets worried, and his worst nightmare is about to come true when the alarm goes off and the disaster is inevitable. With less than 10 minutes to react, it becomes a race against time to save as many as possible, including his own family.
The Wave stars Kristoffer Joner, Ane Dahl Torp, and Jonas Oftebro. The screenplay is written by John Kåre Raake and Harald Rosenløw Eeg.
The the movie is set to be released in theaters, on iTunes, and via on demand services in a little over a month on March 4th.
