‘Game Of Thrones’ Talk Show ‘After The Thrones’ From HBO, Bill Simmons Announced

HBO has announced that Game of Thrones is getting into the post-episode talk show game.

The show will be titled After the Thrones, and it is the first project to come from HBO’s new partnership with Bill Simmons. The show will air weekly, and will be hosted by Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan of The Ringer, which is the name of Simmons’ new website.

Here’s a brief description of the show from the press release:

Each week, AFTER THE THRONES will recap the latest episode, explaining the who, what, when and where, exploring the complicated politics and history of “Thrones,” and offering absurd and not-so-absurd theories about future episodes. Greenwald and Ryan will discuss the show as only they can.

With one of the most popular shows on television, The Walking Dead, having its own post-episode talk show in The Talking Dead, it makes plenty of sense for Thrones to also have one. But unlike The Talking Dead, After the Thrones won’t air immediately after the latest Game of Thrones episode. Instead, a new episode will be available the Monday after new episodes, beginning later this month on April 25th.

Episodes of the show will be available to watch on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand, and other affiliates, while any airings on the main HBO channel will be announced when they are confirmed.

Greenwald and Ryan previously hosted a Thrones themed podcast for Simmons’ Grantland titled Watch the Thrones, and they currently host The Watch podcast on The Ringer’s Channel 33 feed.

Simmons and Bill Simmons Media Group president Eric Weinberger will executive produce After the Thrones, and Greenwald and Ryan will co-executive produce.

Season six of Game of Thrones is set to premiere on the 24th of April. You can see a poster for After the Thrones below.
