Jesse Eisenberg Says Lex Luthor Is Back For ‘Justice League: Part One’

Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor In Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice

When signing on to a superhero movie franchise, it’s very likely that the person in question has signed on for multiple films. Batman v Superman actor Jesse Eisenberg wasn’t sure if he would appear in Justice League: Part One, that or he was just playing coy with the press. But now that enough time has passed and Justice League has started production, the actor is confirming that he is indeed in the film.

This means, if the rumors are true, that we will have at least two villains in the film. More on the story below.

Eisenberg spent the Memorial Day weekend over at MCM London Comic-Con. ComicBookMovie.com was able to grab a few quotes from the convention where he spoke about his future in the DCEU but could not elaborate on the capacity of his role. Here’s what he had to say:

“I’m kind of in wait. They just started filming Justice League, so I’m kind of like waiting for my crack at it. I don’t know what I’m allowed to say, because I feel like there’s probably some drone following me from DC, and if I say anything wrong I get, you know, picked off. But yeah I think so, and I love it, and I love everybody who’s in it. You know, it’s a really talented group of people.”

Ah yes the studio big brother is always watching you so the talent has to watch what he or she says. That’s not surprising to hear at all. But at least we know Eisenberg is in the film. Now as to who he will be working with, that isn’t exactly clear, although there are some rumors out there.

Just a few weeks ago, a rumor popped up saying that the villain in Justice League: Part One could be Steppenwolf, a mighty general working for Darkseid. It is believed that we may have already seen Steppenwolf in one of the deleted scenes that will appear on the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition Blu-ray. But that has yet to be confirmed as well. But based on the ending of the BvS theatrical cut, Luthor warns Batman about a dangerous and powerful threat that will come to Earth now that Superman is six feet underground.

We don’t know what Zack Snyder has in store for us, but apparently one villain isn’t enough. Given what we saw in the deleted scene, Steppenwolf may use Luthor as some sort of pawn to further his goals or vice-versa. Obviously we’ll know more about the film as the Warner Bros. starts to release more information.

Justice League: Part One opens in theaters on November 17, 2017
