In addition to comics, prints, figures, and games, there is also a proverbial cornucopia of clothing and accessory exhibitors. This week, I will be highlighting some of the most exciting and unique clothing and accessory exhibitors in preparation of the exciting events to come!

SpiritHoods Grey Wolf Crop Jacket Review
Grey Wolf Crop Jacket
SpiritHoods is a Los Angeles-based faux fur outerwear company that donates 10% of their net profits to endangered animals. The company received the PETA Libby Award for Best Animal-Friendly Clothing Company twice, and nonprofit partners include Pandas International, Snow Leopard Conservancy, Predator Defense, Panthera, and Polar Bears International. In addition to the great causes SpiritHoods supports, the brand encourages adventure in everyday life.
Their “spirit of the wild” was evident from the start. I could tell the SpiritHoods staff were my kind of people as soon as I received a response regarding this product review. A representative wrote, “Thanks for giving us a howl! ARROO! We would love to get your paws on one of our hoods ;)…Let us know if you see anything that tickles your fancy. MEOW! Talk to you soon xoxo.” I hadn’t even received my SpiritHood yet and I was already feeling good about this company.
I chose the grey wolf as my spirit animal for two reasons:
1. It reminds me of Grey Wind, Robb Stark’s direwolf in George R.R. Martin’s book series, A Song of Ice and Fire (and of course, the HBO show, Game of Thrones).
2. The personality description on the website really spoke to me: “LOYAL – SOCIAL – WISE. Do you have the spirit of the Grey Wolf? If you do you are a social animal and a great communicator, often teaching valuable lessons to whomever is around. Wolves are team players and work well in groups. Those with the Wolf spirit are fiercely loyal to those they love.” You can find out what your spirit animal is right on the SpiritHoods website here.
SpiritHoods is known for their appearance on the show Shark Tank, and the classic one-piece hat/scarf/mitten combination. Their fall and winter collection has just been released, including recommended styles such as Black Wolf, Brown Husky, Grizzly, and Night Fox. I chose to do something a little bit different: the Grey Wolf Crop Jacket.
These coats do not mess around. The faux fur is thick, full, and lustrous. The satin interior is smooth and shiny, and the jacket is very well-made overall. The hood is a bit oversized, but I find that sort of fun and it reminds me of Little Red Riding Hood. I gave my measurements and the representative recommended a size small, which is what I normally am for tops. I would recommend going up a size, though. The jacket fits me, but I feel a bit like an overstuffed marshmallow in it. If I had to go back, I think I would choose the classic SpiritHood rather than a coat, but either way, it is certainly transformative. Animorphs, anyone? Even my dog, Sophie Esmeralda, felt like the majestic queen of the forest that she rightfully is in this jacket:
You will be able to see a variety of what SpiritHoods has to offer during New York Comic-Con weekend (October 6-9, 2016), so make sure to visit Booth #147. If you want to see their collections in advance, visit www.spirithoods.com now.
