Last week found Agent Beyonce aka Castiel (Misha Collins) and Agent Jay-Z aka Crowley (Mark Sheppard) searching for Lucifer (now Rick Springfield). But it was Rowena (Ruth Connell), my favorite witch who got the best of Lucifer. As for Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith), “There was no pain… I think I was in heaven.” So give her something to sing about. She was with John and the boys and was happy. She tried hunting it out, but eventually, Mary had to go deal and left her grown sons.
Spoilers below.
Supernatural 12.4 “American Nightmare” review: Church bells are ringing in Mason City, Iowa. A woman walks in crying being invisibly whipped and wounds dripping from hands and feet & thorns wounds – stigmata. So what do Sam and Dean do? Dress up like priests, of course!
“Priests claim demons walk among us”
Dean wants and texts his mommy. “I’m a 13-year old girl.” Cass and Crowley – “One’s an angel and ones a demon. And they solve crimes.” Sam was the fan of Lucifer’s meat sack – dirty…
Back to the case. They are FBI at the morgue. They went to “stigmata” lady’s job. Her employee moved into her office.
Another stigmata, this time it’s a delivery boy. What the hell? “Stigmata with a side of brains.” They track the commonality to a weirdo family.
Dean: “Weird creepy children of the corn people? I’m in.” No matter what, Dean is always good. Sweaters! So handsome in sweaters. They pass themselves off as caseworkers, FBI, & priests this episode. That has to be a record. Maybe. Sam is judging this family quite openly. They probably deserve it, but still.
A motorcyclist clad in black, looks at the Impala license. That can’t be good.
Dean thinks it is Beth, the ambitious worker. Sam thinks it’s the ghost of the daughter. They are both wrong. The daughter is still alive and whipped in the basement.
“Magda’s our cross to bear.” Are they evil or is Magda evil?
Dean shows up at the office, all smiles. I think he’s trying to be menacing, but he is dreamy with his bedroom eyes. He realizes he is wrong soon enough, just in time for Sam to find out the real deal and get knocked out. He gets invited to the worst family dinner ever. The mom poisons the dad to keep her family together. She accidentally stabs the son, but Magda stops her with her mind. Sam manages to convince her not to kill her mother.
“Sorry I missed all the psycho.” Dean has come around by the end of the episode, which never happens.
The motorcycle guy kills Magda – apparently he’s a cleaner. This will be interesting.
Great friggin episode! I missed a couple and it doesn’t matter (I’m going to go back and watch), the show is enjoyable in standalone form and as an arc. THAT’s why it is in its 12th season.
Supernatural airs Thursday nights at 9:00pm ET on The CW.
