Spoilers for Scream Queens

After four long weeks, Scream Queens is back! Breaking for both the World Series and the Presidential Election, Scream Queens now reclaims its tuesday night time slot. Frankly after the election produced real horror, I need some good fake horror back in my life. When we last left the hospital, Chanel #5 (Abigail Breslin) was attacked and left for dead by the Green Meanie who also disposed of Denise Hemphill (Niecy Nash) via electrocution. Hester (Lea Michele) has also escaped and may or may not be aiding the Meanie in their revenge killings.

This week, on Episode 2.5 “Chanel Pour Homme-icide”: With an FBI agent dead, and #5 being a nuisance about her whole stab wound and everything, Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) is left with no other choice”¦ she must go to the authorities. In reality she was ready to dump Denise’s body in the swamp, but changed her mind after a room full of patients were killed. Her illness is getting worse, so she uses Denise’s body to try out her new cryogenic chamber.

After being convinced the hospital was going to close, to the shock of everyone, two weeks later it is booming, full of hideously deformed patients who heard the stories of the murders on the news. Turns out there’s no such thing as bad press. We meet an enormously tall woman, a girl who can’t move her face, and Munsch’s personal favorite, the woman who can’t maintain her accent when she speaks (Mary Birdsong). Chanel (Emma Roberts) sees this as a potential solution to their problem of serial killers stalking and trying to kill them”¦ find more Chanels!

Her plan commences with them recruiting the super tall Marguerite (Andrea Erikson Stein), face-impaired Daria (Riley McKenna Weinstein), and her biggest fan, the effeminate male purveyor of Chanel fan fiction, Tristan (Pablo Castelblanco). Back at the hospital, Hester scares Chanel but only because she wants back into the Chanels and as a psychotic killer, she may be Chanel’s best defense. Zayday (Keke Palmer) meanwhile has done her research into the hospital’s history and found that a) Chamberlain (James Earl) actually was never hired by Munsch”¦ and b) a woman filed a missing persons’ reports 30 years ago after her husband disappeared at the hospital.

The Chanels continue with their plan by having a slumber party at the hospital for the new recruits, and that goes exactly how you may think.

Welcome back, Scream Queens! A few things I loved this episode were Dean Munsch’s narration, how similar she sounded picking everyone apart. I also loved the scenes involving “Foreign Accent Syndrome”… you’ll see, they’re laugh out loud funny. Finally, Kirstie Alley simply never isn’t funny. Her meltdown at the end is classic.

We are a few steps closer to solving the mysteries of Season 2, so tune in next week, Tuesday night at 9:00 on FOX for more Scream Queens.
