It’s hard to imagine anyone liking a character played by Alfie Allen. As Theon Greyjoy on Game of Thrones he seized Winterfell, and as Iosef Tarasov he killed John Wick’s dog.
Course, just because he plays unlikable characters doesn’t mean that it is an ongoing thing. So who knows what he’ll be playing as he has been cast in The Predator. Find out more about the character and plot of the film in the report below.
The Hollywood Reporter says Allen will be playing an ex-Marine who joins a squad led by Boyd Holbrook “to stop the human-hunting creatures in a setting that hasn’t yet been seen in a Predator movie: suburbia.” This is the first piece of information that reveals details to the plot. Allen joins Jacob Tremblay, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, and Olivia Munn on the cast.
The new setting from Shane Black and Fred Dekker‘s script could give us a brand new twist on the franchise. Predator 2 was the only film of the franchise that took place in a setting that had anything resembling civilization. So for it to go to suburbia should be really fun.
Black posted a photo of the partial cast as filming commenced earlier this week. So we have to assume that everyone in it has some sort of military experience and aren’t just an assembly of soccer moms and stay at home dads.
As for Alfie Allen, well. He is best known for playing Theon Greyjoy and seizing Winterfell, only to be captured, tortured, and disfigured later on in the series. The actor also starred in John Wick, and soon his character became a target of the title character after he killed his beloved dog, which was a gift from his dying wife.
Interestingly enough, the news comes at the same time that it was announced that his torturer on Game of Thrones had been cast as one of the leads in Marvel’s Inhumans TV series.
Directed by Black, The Predator opens in theaters on February 9, 2018.
