It was back in July during Comic-Con that Starz debuted the first footage for American Gods, their upcoming original series based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman.
After previewing the first episode this past weekend at SXSW, the cable network has now released another trailer for the show.
Watch the trailer here below.
The first 90-second trailer was a somber introduction to main character Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle), who has just been released from prison after losing his wife Laura (Emily Browning) in a car accident. The new trailer is only one minute, but it’s more fast-paced, showing us more of Shadow’s relationship with his new boss Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane), who’s preparing for the war between the Old Gods and the New Gods, all of which seems crazy to Shadow.
Starz will premiere the series on Sunday, April 30th at 9PM ET/PT. Season 1 of American Gods will run for eight episodes.
American Gods stars Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Orlando Jones, Corbin Bernsen, Kristin Chenoweth, Cloris Leachman, Pablo Schreiber, Gillian Anderson, and Crispin Glover.
“American Gods” posits a different kind of war brewing””one between Old Gods and New. The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods. Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is an ex-con who, left adrift by the recent death of his wife, becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to conman Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). But in truth, Mr. Wednesday is a powerful old deity, on a cross-country mission to build an army and reclaim his lost glory.
