This weekend, Marvel Studios headed back to where it all started for them, the San Diego Comic-Con. Fans are still pretty much reeling after what they saw at the D23 Expo last week. It’s not that often you see a mad titan hurl a planetary object at our heroes. But here we are. While the studio only brought D23 Expo attendees footage from Avengers: Infinity War, fans at SDCC were treated to a look at some of the other upcoming Marvel films.
First up, a look at Ant-Man and The Wasp, along with the reveal that Michelle Pfeiffer would be joining the cast. Check out what was revealed here below.
During the panel, it was revealed that Pfeiffer would be playing Janet Van Dyne, the mother of Hope Van Dyne and wife of Hank Pym. We only get to see a quick shot of what they are working on, which sees Ant-Man driving a car in his miniature size underneath other cars at a car wash, only to go big and turn over the car closest to the front.
Of course, because this is a work in progress, shots of concept art appeared on display, they showed shots of Wasp with much more yellow on her suit. Closer to that of her costume and a step away from the red and black wasp costume that we saw in the first Ant-Man.
It was also confirmed that The Ghost would be the villain, and she (yes she) would be played by Hannah John-Kamen (Ready Player One). The Ghost is a powerful assassin whose abilties and skills include expert marksmanship and computer hacking. His suit provides him the ability to have ghost-like powers. Hence the name.
They also confirmed that Laurence Fishburne will play Dr. Bill Foster, aka Goliath. In the comics, he’s the second Giant Man – which is perfect since Scott Lang already performed that trick in Captain America: Civil War. Randal Park will play Agent Jimmy Woo.
It’s still not clear what this film will be about. Director Peyton Reed said Ant-Man And The Wasp would not be a heist film. But for all of the characters that are in the sequel, it sure feels like there are heist elements in it. We’ll just have to keep an eye out for any new developments.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is set for a July 6, 2018 release.
