Warning! Spoilers below for last night’s episode of The Strain!
Last week on The Strain, Fet, Quinlan, Roman, and Charlotte (Kevin Durand, Rupert Penry-Jones, K.C. Collins, Rhona Mitra) found the silo, dead men strewn about, but a live one shot Quinlan and there was a standoff. Fet tried to save everyone, but Quinlan killed the soldier. A piece was missing from the missile – new mission. Eph and Alex (Corey Stoll, Angel Parker) poisoned one of the blood trucks with rat poison, and successfully took out the strigoi in a building. The Master (Jonathan Hyde) was upset, but Eichorst (Richard Sammel) said it was a break. Zach (Max Charles) decided to help the cute maid with food, after showing her the power he had over the strigoi.
Spoilers below.
The Strain 4.4 “New Horizons” review: Desai and his wife are eating dinner and arguing, when Eichorst walks up. He wants him to have a plan for when the babies start to be born, when everything will change. He is very disappointed in him.
Desai meets with Dutch and tells her about the jobs of the women as breeders. He wants her to comfort the women who give birth, in particular, Sophie. Sophie, unknowingly, encourages Dutch to go along.
Jason wants Eph to go faster, make a move. He and Alex are going to check out a shipment. Before they can do that, the strigoi invade their lair, courtesy of the whatever location revealing mind hive from the last hit from this group. Jason gets bit. “Do it,” he tells his sister, worms wriggling all over him. She can’t so Eph does.
Gus and his cousin talk about shooting. “Keep your head down,” Gus advises. One of his guys comes back to the lair to die… by human hand. Gus investigates, following the suspect home, and reports back all of the info. Gus wants them to be smart, a recurring theme. There is a gunfight.
A C-section begins with Dutch as cheerleader. “Tell me about your kitchen…when you were growing up.” The baby is delivered, but they won’t even let the mom see it. Dutch flips out and takes Desai hostage… for a little while. They struggle but she gets away and runs right into the blood factory. She sees women screaming, men being hung on hooks and the baby being delivered to it. The scene ends with strigoi closing in on her.
What an episode! So much blood and worms and gore with the ultimate cliffhanger. Please let Fet and Q ride in on a nuke, saving the day! Anytime Dutch is on the screen she is mesmerizing. My girl is such a fighter. I enjoyed every minute.
Some thoughts:
– Can you believe Eph finally admitted his and Zach’s part in the nuclear blast? And that Alex did not kill him?
– Dutch is going to die! I just always thought she’d go out taking out Eichorst.
– No Fet and Quinlan. I know I remark on who is missing every week, but there are not that many characters and I feel like they all need to be together for the rest of the show, so we don’t have to miss any.
– I’m not feeling this Gus territorial storyline. I like when he is in the strigoi fight.
The Strain airs Sunday nights at 10pm Et on FX.
