A biopic about the life of Teddy Roosevelt is in the works with Leonardo DiCaprio starring as the former president and Martin Scorsese directing.
Paramount Pictures has entered into negotiations to back the project, which is currently going by the title Roosevelt. Scott Bloom will be penning the screenplay.
Producing is DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson through Appian Way Productions, Scorsese and Emma Koskoff through Sikelia Productions, and Chuck Pacheco.
Not much else is known about Roosevelt at the moment. Not much else needs to be known beyond the names DiCaprio and Scorsese to sell people on the movie. Still, I’ll be even more excited about it if we get an Arsenic and Old Lace CHARGE! up the stairs out of Leo.
DiCaprio and Scorsese have worked together numerous times, in Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island, and The Wolf of Wall Street. They also have multiple other projects in development including The Devil in the White City and Killers of the Flower Moon.
There’s even that long shot Joker origins movie WB is looking at a potential DiCaprio and Scorsese re-teaming for, but few people are holding their breaths on that one.
