NYCC 2017: Amazon Prime Video’s ‘The Tick’ Dangerboat Experience

If one thing can be said about The Tick is that its title hero has an eclectic list of allies and villains. At this year’s New York Comic-Con, one such ally was showcased in a big way. Dangerboat, the talking sidekick and headquarters to the vigilante known as Overkill, was set up on the convention’s main show floor, allowing fans to take part in an interactive experience within the sentient warcraft. Pfeff-Bot and I had the chance to explore Dangerboat at length. Read below to find out what the experience was like!

Once Pfeff-Bot and I entered the immersive Dangerboat, we immediately scanned our wristbands into one of the ship’s many computers. By answering a few questions, such as “What is your super power?” and “What kinds of shows do you watch?,” Dangerboat then printed us our personal ID cards. As we turned around to move on to another of Dangerboat’s stations, a camera above our heads slid over towards us and engaged us in conversation. “What is your name?” Dangerboat asked us, to which we gave our reply. It then asked, “Do you like my sexy blue lights?,” before sending us off to receive a complimentary can of “Fo-Ham” (fake ham was not included, but some awesome The Tick-related pins were!).

Other fun portions of the ship included launching missiles from the ship’s weapons controls system; creating your very own superhero history profile (we created one for our dog!); unlocking a limited time (one hour) The Tick filter in Snapchat through the Snapchat icon found on the can of Fo-Ham; and posing in front of a green screen for a short The Tick promotional video.

Exploring the ship was very entertaining, I only wish I had more time! Be sure to tune in to The Tick on Amazon Video, as the first half of season one is currently available to stream for Prime subscribers!
