Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave and Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Lupita Nyong’o and Frozen and Beauty and the Beast star Josh Gad have signed on to star in Little Monsters. And no, it’s not a remake of the greatest movie ever made starring Fred Savage and Howie Mandel.
They join Alexander England (Alien: Covenant, Gods of Egypt) on the cast. The movie follows a group of kindergarten kids on a class trip when the dreaded zombie outbreak begins to unfold.
Here’s a more detailed description of Little Monsters from The Hollywood Reporter:
[England plays] Dave, a washed-up musician who volunteers to chaperone his nephew’s kindergarten class field trip after taking a shine to the plucky schoolteacher, Miss Caroline (Nyong’o). Dave’s intentions are complicated by the presence of the world’s most famous kids’ show personality, and competition for Miss Caroline’s affections, Teddy McGiggle (Gad). One thing none of them bargained for, however, is a sudden zombie outbreak, from which Dave and Miss Caroline must protect the children.
The movie is written and directed by actor and filmmaker Abe Forsythe. It’s an Australian production, and is already filming in Sydney.
Nyong’o’s upcoming roles include Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Marvel’s Black Panther, while Gad can be seen in the Thurgood Marshall biopic Marshall and the upcoming Murder on the Orient Express.
Little Monsters will be released sometime in 2018.
