Sony has hired screenwriter Derek Connolly to pen the latest draft of Metal Gear Solid, a movie adaptation of the hit video game series created by Hideo Kojima.
The games follow Solid Snake, a special ops agent who’s particularly skilled in stealth, infiltration, and espionage. Snake is often tasked with destroying giant bipedal tanks, called Metal Gears, which carry nuclear weapons.
Connolly has worked on the screenplays for Safety Not Guaranteed and Jurassic World, both directed by Colin Trevorrow, and Star Wars: Episode IX, which was previously being directed by Trevorrow but is now being directed by J.J. Abrams.
He also worked on the Jurassic World sequel Fallen Kingdom, and Kong: Skull Island.
Directing the Metal Gear movie is Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who previously directed Skull Island. Avi Arad is producing.
