As with all Guilds and Societies in the film industry, the nominations are an indicator of which films are likely to get Academy Award nominations. Get Out, The Shape of Water, Call Me by Your Name, Lady Bird, and The Disaster Artist are among the films that are getting recognition for their performances, writing, and production. All are likely to get more nominations as we get closer to the Academy Awards announcing their own nominations.

Now the nominations for the 2018 WGA Awards have been announced, and they include a couple of surprises. This year, nominations went to films like The Big Sick, Get Out, and The Shape of Water for original screenplay, while Logan, The Disaster Artist, and Molly’s Game get nominated for adapted screenplay.
