Earlier this week, it was revealed that in Avengers: Infinity War Thanos (Josh Brolin) had some big plans for everyone in the galaxy. He is going to save it by wiping half of it out. The only thing is, two of the remaining stones, that we know of, are on Earth. So he’ll have to pay the planet a visit, while also wiping out “half of humanity” and leaving things “perfectly balanced, as all things should be.”
But it’s not like the Avengers are just going to stand there and take it. However, it’s not like they have any choice but to die — at least that’s what the new trailer shows us. Who will die? Who will survive? Check out the full new trailer and poster here below.
All things considered, we knew that this was coming. A culmination of heroes from 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, coming together for one purpose: to defeat the ultimate villain. It’s almost hard to believe we started out so small with a villain like Loki (Tom Hiddleston) trying to claim Earth, while six Avengers — Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) — stopped him. Now there are 22 other heroes to consider.
While the trailer does drop a lot of hints of destruction and mayhem and sees Thanos targeting Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Vision (Paul Bettany) in order to claim two Infinity Stones, it looks like we could also see the history of Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and how she ended up with the Mad Titan. But there are also some humorous bits as well. The exchange between Iron Man and Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) as to who has the better plan, and the superhero introductions between Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Doctor Strange.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
Below is the poster that confirms which heroes from the 18 released MCU films will appear in the mega-ensemble film.
Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters on April 27, 2018.
