Sea of Thieves

With the release date for Rare’s Sea of Thieves fast approaching, the final push to convince the unconvinced that it’s a game worth giving a chance is on.

This week two new videos were released to accomplish this. The first is an eight-minute video going over all of the things you need to know before playing. And the second is a gameplay launch trailer.

Continue below for more info on Sea of Thieves and to check out the videos.

ABOUT:

Sea of Thieves is a shared-world adventure game (or “SWAG,” as we’re fond of calling it). It’s a multiplayer game with crew co-operation at its core, and our ambition is to let players be the kind of pirates they want to be. Whether you’d like to hunt for legendary treasures, sail to the furthest island in the distance or hunt down rival crews, our ambition is to build a game that lets you pursue whichever adventure your salty heart desires.

An Epic Multiplayer Adventure:

Crew up and set sail on memorable voyages. Make and break your Pirates Code on a vast, shared sea.

Become A Pirate Legend:

With musket loaded and grog in hand, the freedom of the pirate life awaits. What will your legend be?

A Treacherous Shared World:

Adventure across a vast ocean where every sail on the horizon means a ship filled with real players who may be friends or foes.

Untold Treasures Await:

Form a crew and voyage to treasure-filled islands, face legendary creatures and test your mettle in epic ship battles against other pirates.

Explore A Fantastical World:

Sail across varied seas and hand-crafted islands, battling enemies and unearthing the secrets of those that came before.

The game will be released on March 20th. You can pre-order a physical or digital copy of the game for Xbox One now. It will also be available for Windows 10.

If you don’t want to commit to a full purchase, there’s also another option you don’t have with most other games. Going forward, games published by Microsoft Studios will be available to play at launch on Xbox Game Pass, which is basically Microsoft’s version of Netflix. This includes Sea of Thieves. The service costs about $10 per month, so you’d have plenty of time to take the game for a test drive and see if it’s for you. If you’ve never tried out Game Pass, you should be able to grab a free trial as well.
