Leigh Whannell is a well-known name in the horror genre. Not only did he write the nine-minute short film Saw—which spawned the horror franchise of the same name—but he also wrote the first movie in said franchise as well as sequels Saw II and Saw III, and even starred in multiple entries including the original. Whannell also wrote and starred in all four Insidious movies, even stepping in to direct 2015’s Insidious: Chapter 3. He also wrote Dead Silence, and wrote and starred in the horror comedy Cooties to name a couple of others.
Now Whannell is jumping over to the science fiction genre for his latest feature Upgrade. But don’t worry; while this is a sci-fi flick it also includes action, and yes, horror elements for fans to look forward to. The movie comes from Blumhouse Productions, the studio behind Get Out, The Purge series, and much more, who has gone full Christmas releasing both a red band trailer and a green band trailer for their newest title. Click on over to the other side now to check out the trailers and see a poster.
As always, to anyone not familiar with movie trailers these days: the green band trailer means you’re good to watch anywhere you want, but red band, on the other hand comes with a not safe for work or viewing around tiny humans warning.
Blumhouse Productions is set to release Upgrade in theaters beginning on June 1st.
