Disney has released the second trailer for The Incredibles 2. Brad Bird, who directed the first film, returns to helm and write the sequel, which sees the Parr family now being able to live their superhero lives in the open. However, a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything.
In addition to the new trailer, we are also getting a new poster which gives us a new look at some of the other “supers” that will appear in the film and the new villain that threatens to destroy everything. Check it out here below.
This latest trailer gives us a better sense of the plot. The first teaser skimmed what life would be like for the Parrs now that they could use their powers as supers. But now there is a familial shift. In the sequel, Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), who had hung up her Supersuit to raise the family with husband Bob (Craig T. Nelson), is now tapped to lead a campaign to bring the Supers back into the spotlight. And now, the difficulties balancing out that campaign with being a wife and mother. It’s no easy task.
“In order to help my family, I got to leave it. In order to fix the law, I got to break it,” says Elastagirl.
“You got to, so our kids can have that choice,” assures Mr. Incredible.
Her new job will force Mr. Incredible to hold down the fort back at home. That means taking care of his three children: Violet (Sarah Vowell), a socially awkward teen who can create force fields and disappear and going through some teen drama; Dash (Huck Milner), a high energy kid who can run at incredible superhuman speeds and bickers with Violet; and Jack-Jack, the infant son whose powers are developing and constantly changing, much to the shock of Mr. Incredible and Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson).
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
In “Incredibles 2,†Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal†life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
The poster features our favorite Parr family, Frozone, and Edna Mode (Brad Bird), as well as six other heroes who will assist them. Some are of the muscular variety, another appears to have wings. But it’s the mysterious villain that will keep everyone guessing. Much of the film’s plot has been kept under wraps, so it comes as no surprise that the trailer and the poster don’t reveal as much as it should.
The Incredibles 2 also features the voice talents of John Ratzenberger and Brad Bird, both of whom reprise their characters from the first film. Jonathan Banks, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Sophia Bush and Isabella Rossellini, also join.
The Incredibles 2 opens in theaters on June 25, 2018.
