Amazon Prime Video

Amazon has announced the full lineup of movies and television shows set to arrive on Prime Video in the new month.

This includes a few highlighted titles coming to the streaming service as well as a little bit about them, followed by the complete list of movies and TV shows including the date they’ll be added to Prime Video. All of the Amazon Arrivals for May 2018 can be found below.

Spring is a time of renewal, so it’s fitting that remakes, reboots and sequels dominate our list of the choicest new TV shows and movies coming to Prime in May. We also add the final seasons of two outstanding dramas and a dollop of purely new stuff. Binge-watch away!

1. Last Flag Flying (Prime Original movie) — May 4

A moving, often funny drama about three Vietnam veterans (Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston and Laurence Fishburne) who reunite to bury one of their sons. Richard Linklater’s film is sort of a sequel to the 1973 classic The Last Detail, but it also works perfectly well on its own as it explores themes of loyalty, regret and the ever-ticking clock of mortality. (2017, R)

2. The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle (Prime Original series), Season 1A — May 11

The famed flying squirrel and his muddled moose buddy return to amuse a new generation of kids. The Prime Original series updates the classic ’60s cartoons with a more modern look. But the lively humor the whole family can enjoy remains, as do lovable villains Boris, Natasha and Fearless Leader. (2018, TV-Y)

3. Orphan Black, Season 5 — May 12

Tatiana Maslany’s impressive performance — make that performances — in several roles provides reason enough to tune into this Canadian-made sci-fi series. But her Emmy-winning work is just part of what makes Orphan Black outstanding. It’s also a smart, fast-moving thriller with a sharp sense of humor. With the final season in place, Prime Video viewers can take in the entire story. (2017, TV-MA)

4. Dino Dana (Prime Original series), Season 2 — May 22

Dinosaurs come to life in this fun and informative kids’ show, a sequel to the Dino Dan series from a few years back. Nine-year-old Dana is a budding paleontologist who comes across a very special dinosaur field guide — one that lets her bring the giant beasts to life. The first season of this Prime Original earned three Daytime Emmy nominations. (2017, TV-Y)

5. Baywatch — May 12

Director Seth Gordon and his team deserve some sort of award for transforming the cheesy ’90s TV series into a fun action comedy. Dwayne Johnson takes the David Hasselhoff role as head lifeguard Mitch Buchannon. He and his elite Baywatch team become involved in smashing a drug ring. Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra and Hasselhoff himself are among the costars. (2017, R)

6. Howard’s End, Season 1 — May 29

E.M. Forster’s 1910 novel became a hit movie in 1992 and now arrives as an excellent four-part miniseries. Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter in the Marvel Universe) stars in the period piece, a story of three families from England’s upper, middle and lower classes at a time when Britain’s social barriers were beginning to break down. (2018, TV-14)

7. Picnic at Hanging Rock (Prime Original series), Season 1 — May 25

Another novel turned arthouse classic turned limited series, Picnic at Hanging Rock spins the tale of three girls who vanish from a school outing in Australia in 1900. Their disappearance and its effect on those left behind make for a mesmerizing mystery. Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones) stars. (2018, TV-14)

8. How To Be a Latin Lover — May 15

Mexican superstar Eugenio Derbez stars in this comedy about a man jilted by his rich older wife after 25 years of marriage and luxury. He moves in with his sister (Salma Hayek) and sets his sights on a rich widow (Raquel Welch). Naturally, things don’t go according to plan. (2017, PG-13)
