It’s been five years since we’ve seen anything from Academy Award-winning Steve McQueen. But the director is now back and with fearless female cast. In Widows, Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez, and Cynthia Ervio play a group of women who have suffered the loss of their husbands. The only problem is, they have secrets to hide, leaving these widows with a debt owed to a dangerous group of people.

McQueen co-wrote the script with Gone Girl writer Gillian Flynn. The film is actually based on a television mini-series of the same name that aired in 1983. And in addition to the stellar leading cast, director, and writing team, Widows also stars Colin Farrell, Brian Tyree Henry, Daniel Kaluuya, Garret Dillahunt, Carrie Coon, Jacki Weaver, Jon Bernthal, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo with Robert Duvall and Liam Neeson.

It’s hard not to get excited over something like this. The basic plot of this is four robbers are killed; however, the job is not done. Now it is up to their wives to finish where their husbands left off. As you may guess, if they fail, dire things will happen to their families.
