Tom Holland Reveals ‘Spider-Man’ Sequel Title (Video)

Tom Holland as Spider-Man in Avengers: Infinity War

Marvel Studios has a problem with leaks. And if you know anything about the studio, you know who is doing the leaking. Spider-Man: Homecoming actor Tom Holland has somewhat of a reputation of spoiling things. It may not ruin the viewing experience, but if Marvel wants to keep things a secret, they best not give Holland any information. We all know that there will be another webslinging adventure, but we’re still unsure how that is even possible given what has happened to Peter Parker in Avengers: Infinity War. But it looks like we at least know the title of the next Spider-Man film.

According to Holland, the next film will be called Spider-Man: Far From Home, a title that makes sense and may have a duel meaning to it. Check out Holland’s confirmation in the video here below.

Holland was at the ACE Comic-Con in Seattle, Washington this past weekend to talk about his involvement in the MCU. However, he apologized to fans, via Instagram video, for their being “no announcements” regarding the Spider-Man sequel, considering what was going on the last time we saw Spidey on-screen. But the actor did express excitement over the sequel while holding up his iPad, which he said had the script on it. As he holds it up several times the title card, which reads Spider-Man: Far From Home, can be seen. This might have been Marvel’s cheeky way to reveal the sequel’s title.

NOTE – if you haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War, skip over the video, since there’s a major spoiler.

Sorry for no announcements, but I love you guys ♥️

Far From Home is a title that works. For one thing, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said that filming would take place in England and other parts of the globe. Production starts in early July. But here is what he had to say about taking Spider-Man out of New York:

“We start filming early July,” Feige said. “We film in London. We shot first film in Atlanta. And we shoot a lot of films in London but there’s another reason we’re shooting in London which is, yes, Spidey, of course, will spend some time in New York, but he’ll spend some time in other parts of the globe.”

Another way to look at it is that Peter is really far from home. Like not even on the physical plane any longer. Of course, that is a very dark way to look at it. So we will just look at it from the globe-trotting point of view.

This couldn’t be the first time that Spider-Man has spent some time slinging webs overseas. He first did it in Captain America: Civil War and then some more in the film’s Blu-ray bonus features. But we will get to see a little more of that in Far From Home. Plus a fish out of water thing could be a fun scenario for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Far From Home opens in theaters on July 5, 2019.
