Fight Club: The Home Game

Everyone knows the rules of Fight Club. So I’m not going to talk about it. But for those who want to live in that world while still wearing their shirts and keeping all of their teeth, there is a new Mondo card game just for them. The pop culture company that first distributed art pieces before going on to release toys and games have announced the release of a Fight Club card game.

So you get to keep your shirt on and keep all of your teeth. More on the story here below.

According to the MondoTees site, Fight Club: The Home Game is a 2-player competitive deck-building card game. You will choose to embody one side of a split personality competing for control of a single mind. Basically, you can become the narrator (Edward Norton) or Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt).

Here’s the basic premise of the game:

Take on the role of either The Narrator or Tyler Durden as you play a game of tug of war with dual-use cards available in a shared draw row. The Narrator side feeds the need to collect, gather, and nest, while the Tyler side enables destruction, mayhem, and ultimately letting go by hitting bottom on a shared tracker both players struggle to dominate.

Previous Mondo games have been multi-player board games, but this dual-player looks like it will capture the spirit of that mental tug-o-war seen in the film directed by David Fincher.

The Fight Club game comes packed with over 140 cards (Basic, Sleep/Insomnia, Fight and Marla), a fold-out instruction poster, “Slide” tracker board, and a Soap Tracker piece.

The game was designed by Luke Byers & Jay Shaw, with cover art by Matt Taylor and game art by Jay Shaw.

It should be interesting to see how this game works. The idea of battling for control is nothing new, but using the themes explored in Fight Club does provide a new twist on the dual-player card game system. Movie-based games are a bit rare, but if anyone is going to release a board/card game based on a film, I think it is fitting that Mondo does it.

Fight Club: The Home Game will be available in stores and online September 2018.
