Speth Jime has destroyed the wifi in the Portland dome, freeing everyone from having to pay to speak. The Silent Girl, a symbol of this revolution, is now on a run for her life through unknown territory. She, along with her fellow Placer, Henry, and a handful of others, most of which she has complicated relationships with, must now navigate unfamiliar terrain in both other domes and the scary outside world. Speth’s real mission is to reunite what’s left of her family, but she cannot help but fight even when she is tortured because of it.

The second story in this unique series picks up right where All Rights Reserved left off. Speth Jime is again the perfect reluctant hero, not really understanding how much she means to this terrible world they now live in. The jewel of the story is her intricate relationships with the other characters. Speth carries tremendous guilt about the people who got hurt or died along the way, plus how the people of Vermaine will survive without the wifi.

I really enjoyed the attention to detail, especially when exploring the long forgotten old world. The way the Cuffs are used are crazy interesting, especially when turned around and used as weaponry against the oppressors.

The book is fast-paced and a constant adventure. 492 pages sped by in a flash.

I don’t want to spoil too much, but I just have to comment that it is delicious that this author wrote a series based on the premise that words are precious. Because they really are.

This book is highly recommended. You don’t even need to read All Rights Reserved before you read this, because enough of the background story is woven in. That being said, All Rights Reserved is fantastic as well.

Official Synopsis:

In this gripping sequel to All Rights Reserved, Speth Jime has freed her home of Portland from the oppressive system that forced everyone to pay for every word they spoke. Now she will discover the cost of that freedom, and the devastating secrets of the world beyond her dome.

On the day she went silent, Speth never meant for anyone to follow her lead””or to start a rebellion of Silents. But after taking down the tyrant Silas Rog and freeing the city from his grasp, everyone is looking to Speth for answers she doesn’t have. All she wants is to find her parents, who are shackled to a lifetime of servitude in exchange for a debt they can never repay. But how can Speth leave her friends to fend for themselves when she’s the reason their city is in chaos?

When the government threatens to restore the WiFi and take back the city, Speth is forced to flee with a ragtag group of friends by her side. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey outside the dome they’ve lived in their entire lives, in search of a better future. Along the way, Speth will discover the shattering truth about their world… and the role she’ll need to play to save it.
