In Creed II Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) finds himself staring across the ring at Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu). The stakes are higher than they have ever been, and a fight has never been more personal. That’s because Viktor is of course the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), who fought Adonis’s father Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) in Rocky IV before going on to face Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone).
MGM has released a new promo video for Creed II, which takes a closer look at the return of Ivan Drago. It offers a little more information on why this fight means so much to him.
You can find the video below along with some other recently released promos for the movie.
SYNOPSIS:
Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.
Also starring in the sequel is Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Russell Hornsby, Andre Ward, and Phylicia Rashad.
The movie is directed by Steven Caple Jr., and the screenplay was written by Stallone and Juel Taylor from a story by Cheo Hodari Coker and Sascha Penn.
