It’s almost hard to believe that we are finally getting to see the James Cameron-produced Alita: Battle Angel. Initially set to be directed by Cameron before he fell in deep with his Avatar sequels, the long-awaited adaptation of the manga is now a Robert Rodriguez directorial effort. The film has been met with mixed reactions, with many praising the visual aesthetics while criticizing the lack of story. Now with the film ready for release, Fox is amping up the hype by releasing one final look at the film. Check it out here below.
One thing is for sure, Alita: Battle Angel will be visually pleasing. Cameron and Rodriguez both have a gift for bringing audiences something that looks out of this world cool. And combining those talents into one film could only mean that we’re in store for something very exciting. However, based on early reactions, it looks like Alita will be more style than substance. We’ll just have to wait and see how audiences will respond.
Alita: Battle Angel stars Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley, and Keean Johnson.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens, she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious past.
Alita: Battle Angel opens in theaters on February 14, 2019.
