Robert Kirkman‘s Invincible is just another one of his comic book properties that are heading to TV. Although, this one will be just a little bit different as it is being designed as an animated series. Still, that doesn’t make it any less interesting, as noted by the stellar voice cast. New reports say that Steven Yeun, who had a starring role in The Walking Dead, the the AMC television show adapted from Kirkman’s comic book series, has landed the lead voice role. And he’s not alone. The actor will be joined by J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogen, Mark Hamill, and so many more. More on the report below.
Revenge Of The Fans says Yeun will be voicing the lead role of Mark Grayson, a superpowered hero with superhuman speed, strength, and invulnerability. He also happens to be able to fly, has a decelerated aging, and an enhanced healing factor. Basically, he’s as invincible as they come.
THR added some additional reporting that says that Invincible will make its premiere on Amazon sometime in 2020. The 8-episode hour-long show will follow Mark Grayson (Yeun), who is just like every other guy his age “” except that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (Simmons). But as Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers that his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems.
Joining Yeun will be Simmons, Oh, Rogen, and Hamill. And to top it all off Gillian Jacobs (Love), Andrew Rannells (A Simple Favor), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Walton Goggins (Justified), Jason Mantzoukas (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Mae Whitman (Good Girls), Chris Diamantopoulos (Silicon Valley), Kevin Michael Richardson (The Simpsons), Grey Griffin (Avengers Assemble) and Max Burkholder (Parenthood) will voice a variety of roles.
But this wouldn’t be the first time that Rogen has been attached to an Invincible project. He is also developing a live-action take on the title with his long-time collaborator Evan Goldman.
Yeun has plenty of experience when it comes to voice acting, having roles in Netflix’s Voltron and Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia. He recently appeared in the Korean drama mystery Burning.
Of course, we will keep you posted as soon as more developments come in.
