First time writer/director Jeffrey A. Brown just had his seaside horror film The Beach House open the Brooklyn Horror film Festival. Now his film was acquired by Shudder, AMC’s horror streaming service.
The Beach House stars Liana Liberato, Noah Le Gros, Jake Weber, and Maryanne Nagel and is produced by Andrew D. Corkin (We Are What We Are), Tyler Davidson (Take Shelter), and Sophia Lin (Compliance). The film made its world premiere earlier this month in Europe.
Emily and Randall (Liberato & Le Gros) are trying to rekindle the romance in their relationship and go away for a seaside weekend only to find a strange older couple already at the titular beach house. They agree to share the home, and after a night of partying, all hell breaks loose.
Funded by Tyler Davidson’s Low Spark Films based in Cleveland, Ohio and Los Angeles, the film will be premiering on Shudder soon. Director Jeffrey A. Brown said of Shudder’s acquisition of the film, “I could not be happier”¦” and called this “…the ultimate endorsement.”
In a statement released by Shudder, the network’s Director of Global Acquisitions & Co-Production Emily Gotto said the following:
“The Beach House is no ordinary vacation horror. Jeffrey and cast have crafted a mysterious, layered and increasingly eerie gem with shades of paranoid thriller and eco-terror. Shudder is thrilled to present this special seaside nightmare to our members.”
Over the last few years, Shudder has become a standout in the streaming world for fans of horror, genre, and the supernatural and they’ve been setting records as of late thanks to Greg Nicotero’s reimagining of George Romero and Stephen King’s Creepshow.
